MORE ABOUT THE FILM
Because I live in Charlottesville, Virginia where Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and university are located I am planning to do some scenes with him. His philosophy on government and life fit in quite well with sociocracy. I know he would have liked and championed it.
Ted Millich, the filmmaker, studied foreign languages including Dutch and video production in the 1980’s. In the early 1990’s he moved to a farm community in central Virginia where issues of self-governance, power, and organizational structure were examined. In 2001 he learned about sociocracy from John Buck, a Washington, DC sociocracy consultant, and then trained to be a trainer. In 2007 he decided to make a documentary about sociocracy. He travelled to the Netherlands to interview members of the Dutch Sociocracy Center and CEOs of Dutch organizations that use sociocracy. He has been working with Docs In Progress (http://www.docsinprogress.org/) of Silver Spring, Maryland to receive one-on-one guidance. In 2008 he formed Only Sky Productions which has, at its core, a commitment to socially conscious filmmaking.
